Marc Richer-Lafleche, Géosciences appliquées

Professor Richer-Laflèche research activities focus on applied geosciences. Research projects, mainly based on geophysical and geochemical studies cover a broad spectrum of applications ranging from mining, oil and gas exploration in geotechnical and even archeology. The first research component is concerned with methods of exploration of mineral resources and conventional hydrocarbons. His team applies and develops new multidisciplinary exploration strategies combining applied geophysics and exploration geochemistry. The research team has just completed the fifth year of vast potential assessment project conventional hydrocarbons in the Lower St. Lawrence and the Charlevoix and Lac St-Jean. The second part of the research includes studies in various fields such as archeology, precision agronomy, environmental and geotechnical engineering. For example, in the field of archaeological prospection work was carried out on many archaeological sites in Quebec (partnerships with the City of Quebec, the National Capital Commission, Laval University Avataq Cultural Society). Among the projects include studies of Cartier-Roberval sites, the Jesuit house of Sillery, the Trait-Carré Charlesboug, Villa Brophy, the site of the Church of Cap-Rouge and prehistoric sites north Quebec. In the field of precision agronomy professor LaFlèche supervised two studies on geophysical mapping of agricultural soils in southern Quebec (Agriculture Canada) and the Vallée du Gouffre in Baie St-Paul (electrical conductivity and gamma spectrometry).
